The SEATTLE CHANNEL ART ZONE presents a weekly show starring Nancy Guppy and Seattle's fabulous creative scene, with fresh highlights from local arts, entertainment and cultural happenings. ART ZONE In Studio with Nancy Guppy features interviews with local artists and performers, reviews and previews of current offerings, and lots of surprises. New episodes of ART ZONE In Studio with Nancy Guppy premiere Thursdays nights at 8:00 p.m., with additional playbacks during the ART ZONE on Friday and Saturday nights.

Nancy GuppyHost Nancy Guppy grew up in Seattle and, with the exception of a three-year stint in Los Angeles, has lived in the city her entire life. Before creating arts programming for the Seattle Channel, Nancy spent 10 years as a writer/performer/producer on KING TV's late night comedy show, Almost Live!. Nancy enjoys morning coffee, daily walks, dinner with friends, hang time with husband Joe, and hitting the local art scene as much as she possibly can.




Lyall BushLyall Bush is Executive Director of Richard Hugo House. He has published personal essays in The Iowa Review and book reviews and articles on movies in Film Comment, Books in Canada and, among other publications, The Stranger. He is at work on a collection of short stories.






Dave BeckDave Beck is an award-winning host and producer at KUOW Public Radio in Seattle. He's been co-host of the arts and public affairs programs Sound Focus, The Beat and Weekday and began his KUOW career as classical music host and music director. An active musician, Dave is a member of the Auburn Symphony Orchestra and played principal cello in the Bellevue Philharmonic and Seattle Philharmonic Orchestras. He recently served as president of the board of directors of the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras.





Phyllis FletcherPhyllis Fletcher's first word was "book." She enjoys reading newspapers, literary journalism, novels, found objects, short stories, court transcripts, and blogs. Phyllis is a reporter at KUOW Public Radio, and a co-producer of two literary stage shows in Seattle: the do-it-yourself storytelling show A Guide to Visitors, and the diary reading show Salon of Shame.





Robert HortonRobert Horton reviews films for The Herald (Everett) and KUOW-FM, and has written for many publications, including Film Comment magazine. He is the author of BILLY WILDER: INTERVIEWS (2001) and FRANKENSTEIN (2009), and his work has been included in BEST AMERICAN FILM WRITING 1999 and the INTERNATIONAL DICTIONARY OF FILMS AND FILMMAKERS. He is also the host/curator of the "Magic Lantern" series of monthly film talks at the Frye Art Museum. Robert's tangled Seattle roots include the Blanchet High musicals, a nonprofit stint with the Seattle Film Society, and working at the Frankfurter on the Ave while in college. Kathy HsiehKathy Hsieh is an award-winning actor, writer and director. She has performed with the Seattle Rep, Book-It, ACT, Intiman, Taproot, ReAct, Freehold, Living Voices and more. Her scripts have been presented in Seattle, Chicago, Minneapolis and Vancouver and she has also been featured in The Dramatist Magazine as “50 to Watch.” As an artist she has been honored by the National Association of Asian American Professionals in Seattle as their Artist of the Year in 2003 and by ArtsFund. By day she works for the Mayor's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs and in her spare time she creates and produces theatre via SIS Productions.



Marcie SillmanMarcie Sillman is an award winning journalist with more than 25 years experience. She is well-known for her work for KUOW Public Radio and for National Public Radio. Her audio pieces are frequently heard on All Things Considered and Morning Edition, as well internationally via the Voice of America.
