City A Go Go Creators
City A Go Go is the brainchild of Nancy Guppy, and was created in partnership with co-producer, photographer and editor, Valerie Vozza. Nancy grew up in Seattle and, with the exception of a three-year stint in Los Angeles, has lived in the city her entire life. Before creating arts programming for the SEATTLE CHANNEL, Nancy spent 10 years as a writer/performer on KING TV's late night comedy show, Almost Live. As far as life outside of work goes, Nancy enjoys morning coffee, daily walks, all sorts of art events, cooking for friends, and hang time with husband Joe and dog Bebo. Nancy also hosts Gallery Hop on the SEATTLE CHANNEL.
Valerie Vozza created the visual style of City A Go Go. She has worked in broadcast television for more than 25 years, mostly for PBS. Valerie was a staff photographer/editor at KCTS and shot several national shows like Bill Nye the Science Guy, American Masters: Vaudeville, and Fire on the Rim. She has been around the world with Rick Steves, Shari Belafonte, and has also traversed the states with Tom Bodett. Eight regional Emmys and a Peabody later, she is happiest when running with the ball--the "creative ball" that producers hand off. Imagine her glee when Nancy asked her to "run with it!" Thanks, Nancy! Free time is spent in pursuit of the next great real estate deal, and yes, watching TV!
Chris Ballew and Tad Hutchison wrote the original songs Film Party, Shelby Jenkins, and Groove Train, all of which can be heard on City A Go Go. Chris is the lead singer and songwriter for the internationally renowned rock band, Presidents of the United States of America. Tad is the drummer and a founding member of the seminal Seattle band, Young Fresh Fellows. Chris and Tad now create original music for film and television.
David Scudder and Lucy Woodworth, graphic designers at Flying Spot Inc, created the graphic package for City A Go Go. David's clients include Discovery Health Channel, Seattle Mariners, Seattle Sonics, Seattle Seahawks, and Slate Magazine. Lucy's clients include EMP, Intel, Microsoft, Nintendo, and KCTS. www.flyingspot.com
City A Go Go is part of the Seattle Channel's Art Zone, an innovative, first-in-the-nation TV project that creates programming celebrating local arts and culture and encourages people to go out and take part in the region's rich cultural life in person.
