City Inside/Out Special Feature: Panhandling 12/31/2009
An increasing number of cities around the country have started to crack down on public begging, or panhandling. Will Seattle follow suit? The closest metropolitan city that has adopted these laws is Tacoma, and we hear from Tacoma City Councilor Connie Ladenburg about whether its panhandling ban has been a success. We also take to the streets and meet some of the people who will be impacted by a stricter ban on aggressive panhandling, including Jeff, a homeless man who cautions that Seattle`s crime rate will increase if begging becomes illegal.
