This year marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, granting women the constitutional right to vote. Here in Washington, the right to vote was given to women a decade earlier. One of Washington's leading suffrage leaders was Katherine Smith, an Alki resident, who would continue her work as a suffragist in other states and at the national level.
