Mayor Durkan opens Occidental Square Timber Pavilion

Mayor Jenny A. Durkan cuts the ribbon on the new Occidental Park Pavilion and announces a new ORCA Recovery Card pilot program. The Occidental Square Timber Pavilion is a brand new large timber structure topped with a glass roof, producing a 90 foot wide covered area at the south end of the square. The pavilion will serve as a visitor center and performance stage. This Pavilion was constructed through a partnership with Seattle Parks Foundation, Alliance for Pioneer Square, and Downtown Seattle Association, with support from private donations. Also, the mayor announces the Seattle Department of Transportation's (SDOT) ORCA Recovery Card pilot that will provide 2,000 free 6-month ORCA cards to restaurant and grocery workers in neighborhoods impacted by COVID-19.
