Digital Accessibility

Seattle Channel is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually work to improve the accessibility of our website and broadcast content in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level A and AA.

Seattle Channel strives to provide captioning for all live and prerecorded videos by April 24, 2026. Seattle Channel began live captioning Seattle City Council meetings in late 2018. Today, nearly all City Council meetings, City press conferences, and Seattle Channel original programming include captions across our digital, website, and broadcast platforms. The Channel has also incorporated alternative text (alt text) in image and link descriptions to support screen reader access. We are also engaged in ongoing research, funding, and implementation efforts related to audio descriptions for video content.

If you experience difficulty accessing Seattle Channel content, would like to request captions or descriptions for a specific video, or have questions or feedback about accessibility, please contact us at contact@seattlechannel.org and include “Accessibility Request” in the subject line. You may also submit a request through our online form. We welcome your input and will make reasonable efforts to provide information in an accessible format upon request.
