Art Zone with Nancy Guppy features interviews with local artists and performers, reviews and previews of current offerings, and lots of surprises. New episodes of Art Zone with Nancy Guppy premiere Friday nights at 8 p.m., with additional playbacks throughout the week.
Host Nancy Guppy grew up in Seattle and, with the exception of a three-year stint in Los Angeles, has lived in the city her entire life. Before creating arts programming for the Seattle Channel, Nancy spent 10 years as a writer/performer/producer on KING TV's late night comedy show, Almost Live!. Nancy enjoys morning coffee, daily walks, dinner with friends, hang time with husband Joe, and hitting the local art scene as much as she possibly can.
Nancy conducts an "exit interview" with Margaret Larson, the well-known and well-loved TV journalist and host who retired at the end of July; rock star guitarist Kathy Moore and her Super Power Trio unveil a brand new single; Tim Harahan and company demonstrate the entertaining art of dubbing old movie footage; and local gallery owners band together to deconstruct and reimagine the Seattle Art Fair in the age of COVID.
"Art Zone with Nancy Guppy" has temporarily morphed into "Art Zone Phones It In," a low-tech scrappy version filmed in the social distancing comfort of Nancy's condo. With Joe Guppy running camera (his iPhone), Nancy and her remote but mighty AZ team curate homegrown video performances by musicians, actors and comedians; present video interviews with artists, city leaders, and owners of art-based businesses; and feature laugh-out-loud moments like cooped-up cat roommates and Nancy giving Joe a much needed, and very bad, haircut.
