Councilmember overcomes fear, donates blood for a good cause
CityStream: Councilmember Mosqueda Overcomes Fear, Donates Blood
6/1/20214:39

Seattle City Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda has long been scared of needles. That changed when her friend nearly died after giving birth and needed 16 units of blood to survive. Now, Mosqueda has set aside her fear and is donating blood as the region deals with a severe shortage in supply. During the pandemic, social distancing has reduced the number of donors, plus blood banks cannot ship each other blood when supplies run low. Councilmember Mosqueda also says there's an urgent need for people of color to roll up their sleeves since the need is great. Brian Callanan reports.
