Hollywood’s recent portrayal of “The Boys in the Boat” focused attention on the University of Washington men’s crew. But women rowers at the UW also have an impressive legacy despite a humbling start in the early 1900s. And when a supportive coach died and World War I broke out, the UW women’s rowing program ended abruptly. 50 years passed before women’s rowing returned. And when it did, the women came back strong! Several legendary coaches guided the team to multiple national championships. Producers Kathy Tuohey and Valerie Vozza have much more.
