Seattle Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL)

The Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL) was created to facilitate the City of Seattle's support for the educational and developmental needs of children in Seattle from birth to preschool, students in Seattle's public schools, students in postsecondary programs, and their families. DEEL is responsible for leadership, direction, policy development, interdepartmental and interagency communication, and coordination for early learning programs and education programs and policies and serves as the City's higher education liaison.  More info: https://www.seattle.gov/education.

Dr. Dwane Chappelle, Director of Seattle Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL), members of Seattle City Council, and child care providers celebrate child care workers in appreciation of their important service to families throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. One-time payments of up to $835 will be provided to over 3,500 child care workers who cared for children as frontline workers throughout the COVID-19 crisis.
