New SODO warehouse gives old lumber a second life

Seattle’s first salvage lumber warehouse is now open in SODO, giving old wood a second life instead of sending it to the landfill. Supported by a $4 million EPA grant, the Earthwise Architectural Salvage facility will reclaim lumber from construction and demolition projects, including old-growth Douglas fir from Seattle buildings. The goal is to reduce waste, preserve finite materials, support local jobs, and make affordable building supplies more accessible.
