CityStream: Exploring the New Convention Center Addition
3/28/20239:10
After more than a decade of planning and construction, the city now has a dramatic new space that has doubled Seattle’s convention center capacity. The new vertical building rises high above Pine Street and will go by the name, “Summit.” The existing convention center, a block away, will be known as the “Arch” building. Some highlights of the new facility include 570,000 square feet of event space, a gigantic ballroom with a 65-foot-high ceiling, and two huge exhibit halls, one a tractor-trailer can drive into. Host Mona Lee Locke tours the new space with Convention Center President & CEO Jeff Blosser.
