CityStream: Zoo Scientist’s Quest for the Tree Kangaroo
11/1/20188:26
Most people have never heard of the animal, few have held one. When Lisa Dabek first handled a tree kangaroo, the experience changed her life. Dabek is senior conservation scientist at Woodland Park Zoo. For more than 30 years she's worked to save the endangered animals. She makes the journey twice yearly to Papua New Guinea - home to these adorable and exotic creatures. Hunters nearly wiped them out. Now, hunters help Dabek track them in the forest, so she can measure and monitor their movement. Penny LeGate traveled to Papua New Guinea with Dabek to see this conservation program up close!
