New episodes of Art Zone with Nancy Guppy premiere Friday nights at 8 p.m., with additional playbacks throughout the week.

Host Nancy Guppy grew up in Seattle and, with the exception of a three-year stint in Los Angeles, has lived in the city her entire life. Before creating arts programming for the Seattle Channel, Nancy spent 10 years as a writer/performer/producer on KING TV's late night comedy show, Almost Live!. Nancy enjoys morning coffee, daily walks, dinner with friends, hang time with husband Joe, and hitting the local art scene as much as she possibly can.

Summer in Seattle means fun in the sun and lots of live music! In this episode we revisit performances from five local bands who have graced the Art Zone stage and who will be playing festivals and clubs now through Labor Day: Moondoggies, Thunderpussy, Barrett Martin Group with Jeff Angell, Naked Giants, and True Loves.

True Loves perform “On The Spot”

True Loves is Gordon Brown on tenor saxophone, Jason Cressey on trombone, Ivan Galvez on percussion, Jimmy James on guitar, Greg Kramer on trombone, David McGraw on drums, Bryant Moore on bass, and Skerik on tenor and baritone saxophone. True Loves play Bumbershoot on Sunday, September 3.

Moondoggies perform “Cinders”

Moondoggies is Carl Dahlen on drums and vocals, Kevin Murphy on guitar and vocals, Jon Pontrello on guitar, Caleb Quick on keys and vocals, and Robert Terreberry on bass. The band plays two nights at the Tractor Tavern, July 21 and 22. Kevin Murphy’s side project, Small Paul, perform at Westlake Park on July 13; The Timber Festival on July 28; and Pickathon on August 4 and 6.

Thunderpussy perform “Taking You Over”

Thunderpussy is Ruby Dunphy on drums, Leah Julius on bass, Whitney Petty on guitar, and Molly Sides on vocals. Thunderpussy play Bumbershoot on Saturday, September 2.

Barrett Martin Group with Jeff Angell perform “My Luck Pushed Back”

With Jeff Angell on vocals, Ryan Burns on keys, Dave Carter on trumpet, Andy Coe on guitar, Thione Diop on African drums and percussion, Evan Flory-Barnes on upright bass, bandleader Barrett Martin on drums, and Hans Teuber on saxophone and flute. Jeff Angell’s band, Walking Papers, play the Crocodile on July 1.

Naked Giants perform “Everybody Thinks They Know (But No One Really Knows)”

Naked Giants is Gianni Aiello on bass and vocals, Henry LaVallee on drums, and Grant Mullen on guitar and vocals. Naked Giants play the Gigantic Bicycle Festival in Snoqualmie on August 4.
