Four must-see theatre outings for your fall calendar
Art Zone: Theatrical calendar of events
10/12/20232:42

With so much great live and local theatre happening around town, here’s a short list of shows and events to consider:

-“Thoreau at Home,” a one-man show featuring the brilliant Todd Jefferson Moore as Henry David Thoreau, is a riveting and deeply moving meditation on the natural world and our place in it. Runs Oct. 13-28 at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts.

-ACT, A Contemporary Theatre, launches New Works Northwest, a three-day festival from Oct. 27-29 featuring readings of five new plays by five excellent Seattle playwrights: Andrew Lee Creech; Steven Dietz; Katie Forgette; Reginald Andre Jackson, and Maggie Lee.

-Actor and writer Molly Shannon, perhaps best known for her Saturday Night Live character Mary Katherine Gallagher, is coming to the Moore Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 21, to talk about her new memoir “Hello, Molly!” Facilitated by Art Zone host Nancy Guppy.

-“Letter’s Aloud” presents “Before They Were Famous—letters on the way up” on Thursday, Oct. 28 at Town Hall Seattle. Featuring professional actors reading letters written by well-known figures such as Oprah Winfrey, Marilyn Monroe, and Tom Hanks, this personal correspondence reveals the circuitous, sometimes prickly path, to fame.
