CityStream: Washington Listens Offers Support During the Pandemic
8/18/20203:24
As the pandemic enters its sixth month, many people are dealing with severe stress, anxiety, and hopelessness. Counselors fear drug use and suicide will rise as an expected second wave of the coronavirus hits in the fall. In response, the state has launched Washington Listens. It is not a crisis line, but a new service open to anyone seeking support and connections to community services. Producer Randy Eng speaks to some of the staff who will be on the other end of the line and why they're so committed to helping.
More info: Washington Listens is available by calling 1-833-681-0211 Monday-Friday from 9 AM to 9 PM and weekends from 9 AM to 6 PM. Visit the Washington Listens website for more information.
