Community Videos

Teaching artist Aaron Walker-Loud of Big World Breaks teaches about percussion pitch, tone, rhythm, and tempo, through interactive games and practice using a tabletop or djembe drum. Introduction to playing a snare drum, some personal inspiration stories, and a focus on learning with a growth mindset are part of this first of three challenge videos. This lesson is great for learners of all ages, particularly youth grades 6-8.

The Creative Advantage Online Arts video series is created by The Creative Advantage in collaboration with teaching artists and organizations on our Community Arts Partner Roster, Seattle Public Schools, and production partners NFFTY / The Talented Youth, NW Film Forum, and Reel Grrls Pro. The Creative Advantage is a city-wide initiative to establish equitable access to arts education for each and every public school student, made possible through a public-private partnership with Seattle Public Schools, the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, the Seattle Foundation, and 100+ community arts partners and teaching artists.
