CityStream: Reviving Art & Remembering the Past
2/1/202223:10
For art curator David Martin, a chance encounter in 1986 was eye-opening. He had met the son of Kenjiro Nomura, a Japanese immigrant whose art shined in 1930's Seattle. But World War II and the incarceration of Japanese Americans changed everything. Today, Martin and others have revived Nomura's art for a new generation to enjoy! And, a man who spent the first years of his life at the same incarceration camp as Nomura shares why he makes a pilgrimage back to that desolate location each year. Host Enrique Cerna has these stories from Seattle's Japantown.
