1/24/202328:36
A renewed effort to restore once-abundant kelp forests is taking shape in Puget Sound. Strands of this algae can grow up to 100 feet long and are essential to marine ecosystems. In a special two-part report, we explore kelp’s importance to the Sound and what may be contributing to its decline. Plus, a look at the groups teaming up to research kelp and formulate innovative ways to restore this vital resource. Also, work is nearing completion on a project designed to help migrating salmon in the Duwamish waterway. These stories are the focus of this special environmental edition of CityStream, hosted by Jeff Renner at Elliott Bay Park.
