CityStream: Turning Down the Volume to Help Endangered Orcas

They are an icon of West Coast waters and beloved across our region. But Southern Resident Killer Whales remain endangered, and much needs to be done to save them. One of the greatest threats to orcas is vessel noise. It interferes with their echolocation abilities, making it more difficult for them to find food. A new program called Quiet Sound is testing how to help endangered orcas by reducing noise in the waters these animals call home. Michael Crowe has more.
