11/1/20186:20
Decades ago, Woodland Park Zoo biologist Lisa Dabek began a crusade to save endangered tree kangaroos. She's a pivotal player in the zoo's renowned animal conservation program. Her commitment to these elusive creatures is unwavering. She flies to far-off Papua New Guinea several times a year to further her research. But she can only do so much. Dabek knows the path to save her beloved tree kangaroos requires active involvement from villagers. A partnership with Seattle Caffe Vita coffee company has provided an economic boost that's fueling the conservation effort. And as Penny LeGate explains, other educational and healthcare programs are improving the lives of many on this island nation.
