Tim Burgess served as mayor of the city of Seattle in 2017.  Bruce Harrell was first appointed mayor of the city of Seattle after Edward Murray left office in September 2017.  Tim Burgess was then appointed mayor by the Seattle City Council to serve the remainder of the mayoral term after Harrell declined in order to continue serving on Council.

Mayor Tim Burgess signs legislation to rezone areas of the Uptown neighborhood, which is expected to result in hundreds of new units of affordable housing. Mayor Burgess also signs legislation to establish the Uptown Arts & Culture Coalition, which will advocate for arts and artists in Uptown.
