Mayor Jenny A. Durkan, Police Chief Carmen Best, and Fire Chief Harold Scoggins discuss planned weekend protests in Seattle. In addition, the Mayor discusses the federal government's confirmation that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has sent a limited number of agents to Seattle on standby to protect federal buildings.
On a phone call with Mayor Durkan Thursday, Acting DHS Secretary Wolf confirmed that DHS has no plans - and sees no need - to send federal forces to Seattle. He committed to notifying Chief Best and the Mayor should that change. Despite DHS providing confirmation of federal agents on standby to media and contrary to their stated commitment, the Mayor and Chief have received no such notification from DHS.
Speakers include:
Mayor Jenny A. Durkan, City of Seattle
Chief Carmen Best, Seattle Police Department
Chief Harold Scoggins, Seattle Fire Department
