Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, Councilmember Dan Strauss, King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) CEO Marc Dones, representatives of REACH, and Phinney Neighborhood Association and additional local community leaders share recent outreach efforts at Woodland Park. They discuss the collaborative partnership to help those living unsheltered at the park. Concluding last week, coordinated outreach efforts at Woodland Park resulted in 89 connections to shelter and housing for people experiencing homelessness, including 60 referrals to tiny house villages, 25 referrals to enhanced shelters, and 4 relocations to permanent housing alternatives. Efforts to restore and reactivate the park for its intended use are ongoing. The last remaining park-based encampment of significant size, Mayor Harrell named addressing homelessness at Woodland Park a major priority from his first days in office.
