CityStream: Sand Point Cottage Community
12/13/20226:01
Seattle’s Magnuson Park is popular for its beaches, sports fields, and dog park. Soon it’ll also be home to residents of a newly designed housing project. The Sand Point cottage community features 22 small structures clustered around a commons building. This project is similar to tiny house villages, with one big exception. Each of the cottages has full utilities. The first residents will move in early next year, and most will be people transitioning out of homelessness. This project has been years in the making and was a collaborative effort by city, state, private, and nonprofit partners. Producers David Albright and Enrique Cerna have more.
