City Inside/Out: Delivery Drivers Debate
5/17/202428:32
Seattle’s new PayUp law, an attempt to raise gig worker wages, may be significantly revised just months after its rollout. Many food delivery drivers and restaurants say the law has backfired, with UberEats, DoorDash and Instacart tacking on a new $5 surcharge which has resulted in reduced delivery orders. The city council is working to find a compromise that protects worker wages and restaurant receipts.
