Mayor Ed Murray introduced legislation that requires all new multifamily residential development to contribute to affordable housing, either in the building or with payments to fund construction elsewhere in the city. It is the next step to implement last year's Grand Bargain agreement between affordable housing advocates and real estate developers to create 6,000 affordable homes in Seattle over the next ten years.
