Connecting the Lessons of History - Panel 2
6/18/20161:31:24

Connecting the Lessons of History is a panel discussion on the similarities between anti-Japanese rhetoric and violence during WWII and the hatred directed at American Muslims and immigrants in the post 9/11 world. Remembering the forced removal and incarceration of 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry, we will examine how failure of leadership, war hysteria and public silence can lead to civil rights violations on a massive scale. Featuring Richard Stolz, John Okamoto, Councilmember Lorena González, and Jasmit Singh. Produced in partnership with International Examiner as part of the State of Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction's Kip Tokuda Memorial Washington Civil Liberties Public Education Program. Watch the video for the first panel discussion, on May 30, 2016, on this topic.
