Building wetlands to sustain salmon
Building wetlands to sustain salmon

For thousands of years, the Duwamish River has been an important waterway for Puget Sound salmon. In recent decades, industrialization and pollution have degraded salmon habitat along the river. Students from UW's Green Futures Lab are researching ways to restore this habitat. The floating wetlands project is a partnership of students, scientists, and community members supported by the University of Washington, King County, and the Port of Seattle.
