During that time, it’s seen massive growth, major technological changes, and a huge increase in people flying in and out. In the summer of 1949, Sea-Tac was hailed as America’s most advanced airport with its airy, glass-walled concourses and soaring control tower. Hear from a woman who witnessed the hoopla on opening day! Back then, travelers enjoyed fine dining in the terminal. And in baggage claim your luggage was handed to you! Imagine that!
