10/7/202453:38

On Friday, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, the City of Seattle’s Office of the Waterfront and Civic Projects, and Friends of Waterfront Park joined civic, business, and community leaders for the ribbon cutting and public celebration of Overlook Walk. Located where the Alaskan Way Viaduct once stood, this iconic elevated park provides a new, direct pedestrian connection between Pike Place Market, downtown neighborhoods, and the entire 20-acre Waterfront Park. Once completed, Overlook Walk will join Seattle landmarks like the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, the Great Wheel, and the Climate Pledge, Lumen Field, and T-Mobile Park arenas as a recognizable symbol of the city’s identity.

Speakers:
Mayor Bruce Harrell, City of Seattle
Angela Brady, Director, Seattle Office of the Waterfront & Civic Projects
Joy Shigaki, President and CEO, Friends of Waterfront Park
James Corner, Founding Partner, Field Operations
Leonard Forsman, Chairman, Suquamish Tribe
Donny Stevenson, Vice-Chairman, Muckleshoot Indian Tribe
Devin McComb, Council Chair, Pike Place Market PDA
