History in Motion: Bobo's Home Movies
7/16/200725:24
Bobo the Gorilla was one of Seattle's biggest celebrities in the 1950s and 1960s during his time at Woodland Park Zoo -- even more popular than the recently deceased elephant Hansa. Prior to arriving at the zoo, the Lowman family of Anacortes had adopted Bobo as a young gorilla and raised him in their home. These fascinating home movies document a typical day in the life of a domesticated gorilla, as well as Bobo's eventual move to Woodland Park. Courtesy of the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI).
