Deputy Chief Nick Metz speaks about a January 28th incident when a gunman opened fire in a Central District bar wounding two people, before he was shot by an officer when they confronted him inside the business.
Living Room Conversations are designed to bring together local community members and police officers in a way that is more comfortable and informal than traditional meetings. The small group setting promotes an open dialogue that allows participants to address neighborhood issues directly with officers who work in the area. Hear from local residents who have participated in these meetings to see how the process works and what they got out of the situation.
The Seattle Police Department released dash-cam video of a physical arrest to local attorney James Egan. The video was shown publicly with Mr. Egan`s permission. Sergeant Sean Whitcomb was present to answer questions.

SPD Press Conference: Hit and Run

Press Conference on arrest of suspect in July 28th, 2011 fatal hit and run on Dexter Avenue North case.
On 4/22/12, just shortly after 2:00 a.m., multiple shots were fired from a vehicle, in the area of 2nd Ave and Yesler Way. Officers in the nearby area responded and located the 21-year-old female victim down on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.

Oliver`s Twist Press Conference

In an effort to combat rising property crime in Seattle, members of the Seattle Police Department`s Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) and Pawn Shop/Property Recovery Unit rounded up burglars, car prowlers, and other criminal suspects caught selling stolen goods to undercover detectives at an SPD-run fencing operation during a year-long investigation, Operation Oliver`s Twist.
On January 17, 2012 at approximately 11:15 p.m. victim Darek Darewski, a 49-year-old Seattle man, was walking or standing in the 1700 block of Harvard Avenue next to Seattle Central Community College. He was approached by an unknown suspect(s) who produced a firearm and shot him in the chest. Mr. Darewski died at the scene.
Councilmember Harrell, Mayor`s Office, Chief Diaz, and the SPD`s South Precinct speak to Lakewood/Seward Park and SE Seattle residents.

Seattle Chief of Police John Diaz holds a press conference following the death of a police officer suspected of a drug offense.
On January 3rd, at approximately 6:45 pm, three black males wearing masks entered a pawn shop in the 5700 Block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South. At least one of the suspects displayed a handgun. The suspects gathered the employees and a customer and took them to the back of the store. The victims were all forced to get down on the floor, while the suspects ordered the employee to hand over money. The suspects also broke several display cases and took various items inside the cases.
