Book Lust with Nancy Pearl featuring Betsy Hanson
6/21/201829:23
After her novel was rejected by a number of traditional publishers, Seattle author Betsy Hanson decided to go the independent route and self-publish her first novel "Always Gardenia." Hanson recounts her path to becoming a successful self-published author, discusses writing craft and shares her love for the midcentury English novelist Barbara Pym with host Nancy Pearl. With nods to the wry comedic sensibility of Pym and her respect for the role of "trivialities" in human life, "Always Gardenia" combines laugh-out-loud moments with wise reflections on friendships, families, and loss, as well as the complex relationship between mothers and their grown sons.
