CityStream: WWI in Seattle
11/8/20187:02
This Veterans Day marks the centennial of the end of World War I, a war that brought profound change to Seattle. The newly formed Boeing Company boomed with orders, and thousands of new workers flooded local shipyards. But some opposed the war, including a labor union known as The Wobblies. At the same time, another world war was being waged against influenza. That epidemic affected the family of local journalist Knute Berger. He recounts that story and others as we look back on The Great War's impact on Seattle. Enrique Cerna has the story.
