The 7/23/2026 meeting of the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners.

The Board of Parks and Recreation held a special meeting to discuss Seattle Public Schools’ proposal to renovate the track and add field events at Lower Woodland Park, and to consider a new multi-sport athletic field at North 50th Street and Aurora Avenue. Staff from Seattle Parks and Recreation and Seattle Public Schools presented the proposal, highlighting the need for more athletic facilities, the long partnership between the two agencies, and the environmental concerns related to tree canopy, wildlife habitat, and park use. The meeting included extensive public comment.  The board clarified that no vote was taken at this meeting, which served as a public hearing to gather input on the proposals.
