The 8/13/2026 meeting of the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners.
The Seattle Parks and Recreation Board of Commissioners held a meeting to discuss the Lower Woodland Park athletic field project and review the Find It and Fix It asset management system. The board voted to move forward with the environmental impact statement process for the proposed track and field improvements at Lower Woodland Park, with a requirement for quarterly updates and inclusion of previous public comments in the consultant's background materials. Andy Sheffer presented the EIS process timeline and recommendations, explaining that the process could take 2-3 years and would include community engagement, environmental impact analysis, and mitigation strategies for concerns about trees, parking, and transportation. The board also received a briefing on the Find It, Fix It system integration with their asset management work order system, which processed 12,716 customer service requests in 2025 across various parks maintenance categories including grounds, natural resources, plumbing, and electrical issues. Public comment sessions addressed safety concerns at Matthews Beach Park overflow lot, opposition to bicycle gate installations on Lake Washington Boulevard, and support for Lincoln High School's need for a home athletic field.
