On Thursday, April 23, 2026, Seattle City Councilmember Maritza Rivera (District 4) and King County Councilmember Rod Dembowski (District 1) held a joint press conference to discuss the recent findings of the completed forensic evaluation of the King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) and next steps. Both called for dismantling of the agency.

In a statement Wednesday after the report was shared internally with Seattle councilmembers, Councilmember Rivera said the audit findings show an “egregious mismanagement of funds” and called for the dismantling of the agency. County Councilmember Dembowski, in a statement, described KCRHA as a failed experiment that needs to end.
