Mayor Wilson signs expanded protections for Seattle domestic workers

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, Mayor Katie B. Wilson signed amendments to the Domestic Workers Ordinance (DWO) and celebrated expanded protections for domestic workers with City and community leaders.The legislation transmitted by Mayor Wilson and sponsored by Council Member Rinck to expand protections under the ordinance was unanimously passed by the Seattle City Council.
The legislation that goes into effect on July 1, 2027 will align Seattle labor standards with statewide protections that ensure domestic workers are treated fairly in the workplace.
