Today’s leaders on today’s topicsAbout Seattle University Conversations
Seattle University Conversations, the quarterly series presented by the Department of Public Affairs and Nonprofit Leadership, brings local, regional, and national leaders to the stage for in-depth discussions on critical current issues.
In his first quarter in office, Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson faces a $16 billion four-year state budget shortfall and an undetermined amount of budget cuts and executive orders from the federal government. In the auditorium-packed event, “Rise of the Governors: Navigating Contrasts, Chaos, and the Constitution,” Seattle University lecturer Joni Balter and student and Master of Public Administration candidate Andres Recart engage with the governor and former state attorney general on a number of topics including his approach to the budget problems, what makes up a constitutional crisis, and what to do about the state ferry fleet.
