City of Seattle Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs and King County announce the county will join the national nonpartisan initiative Cities for Citizenship (C4C) in a press conference in collaboration with the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA), OneAmerica, City of Seattle Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs, King County and Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) to invite Washington’s eligible permanent residents to become citizens as part of the “Naturalize 2 Million by 2022!” campaign.

Over nine million permanent residents are potentially eligible for citizenship nationwide. The state of Washington has over 190,000 permanent residents potentially eligible to naturalize, and more than 113,000 of them live in the Seattle metropolitan area.

As part of the “Naturalize 2 Million by 2022” campaign, the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA) has partnered with dozens of cities, counties, and over 50 immigrant and refugee advocacy organizations throughout the nation to educate and empower eligible permanent residents to become citizens. Part of the campaign’s efforts include helping eligible immigrants through the naturalization process and providing educational materials and resources to complete the U.S. citizenship test successfully.
