In our disposable society, it's routine to toss things that don't work, like lamps that don't light or small appliances that do nothing when you flip the switch. But a group of volunteers known as the Fixers Collective says before you go to the landfill come see them! They live by the mantra, "it's better to repair than replace." For now, their free services are on hold due to the pandemic. But, as producer Laila Kazmi reports, soon they'll be welcoming folks back to Greenwood Hardware to repair items that just need a little TLC to find new life.
The Fixers Collective hopes to resume summer 2021. In the meantime check out a related event, the Repair Economy Summit 2020, taking place virtually on Nov. 8, 2020. You can register for this free summit by going to repaireconomy.brownpapertickets.com
