For decades it fed downtown residents, hungry for headlines. First and Pike News served as an unofficial town square, where people would grab a newspaper then comment about the front page. But the internet changed all that. Newspaper sales dropped and the once-bustling newsstand at the south end of Pike Place Market knew the writing was on the wall. Its final day was the last day of the decade. Producer Ian Devier was there from open to close as a Seattle institution faded into history.
