CityStream: Phnom Penh Noodle House: The Next Chapter
9/28/20214:46
Seattle's beloved Phnom Penh Noodle House has been a community hub for decades. Founder Sam Ung survived the killing fields of the brutal Khmer Rouge regime before escaping Cambodia for America. He worked hard and operated Phnom Penh Noodle House for 26 years before turning it over to his three daughters in 2013. Several years later, a tragic accident forced the family to close the restaurant, leaving loyal patrons stunned. But with help from the community and the city, the restaurant re-opened in 2020, during the pandemic. Host Linda Byron speaks to two of Sam Ung's three daughters who now run the restaurant. Diane Le and Dawn Ung share much more about the family business.
