Renowned sculptor John Grade's suspended splendor in Arboretum
CityStream: Arboretum Tree Sculpture

The Washington Park Arboretum is home to a new art gallery, with no walls! That’s because a new creation, called Union, hangs from the trees, all 220 pounds of it. The intricate display includes 6,500 cast resin pieces meant to look like the cell structure of a tree. Sculptor John Grade and his team of 15 artisans spent months creating it. But as Brian Callanan reveals, Union is only temporary. It’ll hang for about five years before it’s dismantled and taken down.
