Mayor and Local Leaders Celebrate Groundbreaking of New RapidRide J Line

Mayor Bruce Harrell joined the Seattle Department of Transportation, King County Metro, and other partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new RapidRide J Line.

The goal of the RapidRide J Line, set to launch service in 2027, is to enhance bus speed, access, reliability, and station amenities. The project also includes protected bike lanes, replacing a water main, and repaving Eastlake Ave E to bring numerous upgrades that will more closely connect Downtown Seattle to Belltown, South Lake Union, Eastlake, and the University District.
